This term, our Project Based Learning (PBL) started with the teachers putting us into groups. In these groups we had to work collaboratively to create Jolly Jars for the school fair. This task helped us to begin exploring our PBL question for the term - How can we build community through our actions? We had to research ideas, be creative with our product, experiment with our materials and write instructions that could be followed by others.
Here is a link to my instructions.
I learnt that instructions need to be specific, the instructions have to be in order and really bossy.
Reflection on PBL:
For our Jolly Jar my group made origami for the school fair.
I contributed to my group by helping to make a logo and helping debate which product to do.
Our Jolly Jar was creative because though a decent amount of people did origami our group did a unique piece. It was creative because my group made paper whales, rabbits, dogs -- etc.
What I learned about working with others was that not everyone has the same opinion. And that it helps you to connect with people you don’t usually interact with.
How did we build community through our actions?
By making jolly jars for the school fair. The school used the jolly jars I made to sell at the fair to raise money for the bike track that’s being built.
